New Hampshire has a strong skiing tradition to brag about, and in the 1930s, it led the US in ski activity. The early prominence of the Dartmouth Outing Club’s Winter Carnival was a major forerunner in the development of the sport. Rail excursions from Boston, well-plowed roads, Civilian Conservation Corps trails, and entrepreneurial activity helped skiing take off. Enjoy this collection of images, many taken from the New England Ski Museum’s archives, recounting the history of skiing in New Hampshire.
