Because Goodnight Chairlift is a bedtime story, it is intended to be read aloud by a grownup. While the book is best for children 4-10 years of age, of course it can be read for children of any age. For self-readers, Goodnight Chairlift is approximately 3rd grade reading level.

After the wild success of A-B-Skis, Libby and Nathan couldn't resist teaming up once again. Libby's inspiration for Goodnight Chairlift came when she brought her then two year-old son to visit her home ski area, Crystal Mountain. In the evening, he got upset when he saw that the chairlift and gondola had stopped for the day, so Libby and her husband explained to him that the chairlift, and everything else at the ski area, needs to go to sleep at night--except, of course, the snow cats, which come awake to do their work. Now, two years after Libby came up with the idea, the manuscript for Goodnight Chairlift is written and ready to publish!
